The Wolverines lost two starting defensive backs after their national championship win over Washington. Starters Mike Sainristil and Josh Wallace — both out of eligibility — declared for the NFL draft. Michigan does return three starters in Will Johnson, Rod Moore, and Makari Paige, but it’s clear Michigan is going to need to do some recruiting in the secondary department when it comes to the 2025 class.
Recently, Michigan made the top four for Jaimier Scott — a highly touted cornerback out of Ohio. Scott named Michigan, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Penn State in his top four.
The Cincinnati (OH) Mt. Healthy product is listed as an athlete on 247Sports, but Scott is widely considered as a cornerback at the next level. He has great size at 6-foot-1 and has some time to bulk up, weighing 177 pounds.
Scott is considered as the 326th-ranked recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 12 recruit out of Ohio. He currently has one Cyrstal Ball prediction to go to Wisconsin.
The Wolverines signed just one CB during the early signing period for the ’24 class. But Michigan still has some time to make a move(s) before national signing day, or by making a move via the transfer portal. If that holds true, then the Michigan coaching staff will be looking to add some talented players in the secondary when it comes to ’25.
