While Michigan has gained a couple of players from the transfer portal like Northwestern O-Lineman Josh Priebe and Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham, the Wolverines have also lost a few players to the portal.

Before Michigan competed in the CFP this season, the Wolverines lost running back CJ Stokes — who committed to Charlotte — and cornerback Cam Calhoun — who committed to Utah.

After Michigan defeated Washington in the national championship, the Wolverines lost a couple more notable players that were expected to take a rise in the 2024 campaign.

Sophomore wide receiver Darrius Clemons, a 6-foot-3 receiver, entered the portal. With the loss of Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson, Clemons was widely expected to finally take that big leap for the Wolverines. But instead, the Portland (OR) native decided to go back home and commit to Oregon State.

In two seasons with Michigan, Clemons caught four passes for 40 yards, but appeared in 22 games for the Wolverines.

The other notable departure was former receiver turned cornerback Amorion Walker. Walker came to Michigan two years ago in a battle with Notre Dame. The Ponchatoula (LA) native came to Michigan as a 6-foot-3 receiver, but after one season, the Wolverines turned him into a cornerback.

Walker battled some injuries, but was described as a unicorn by coaches in the fact that he was going to be a rare breed in the secondary. He finished 2023 with three tackles and 0.5 TFL. But even after Mike Sainristil and Josh Wallace heading to the NFL, Walker announced he was transferring away from Ann Arbor.

He announced on social media he was heading south and committing to Ole Miss.

With so many departures from players heading to the NFL or players transferring, the Wolverines are expected to look into the portal a little more before things are all said and done.
