Michigan is still trying to finalize its 2024 recruiting class — mainly hoping to land five-star receiver Gatlin Bair over Oregon. But the Wolverines are also focusing on the next chapter in recruiting: 2025.
On Monday, Quintin Simmons Jr. announced his final six schools he was looking at. The Ohio product announced Michigan was one of his finalists.
He announced on social media that the Wolverines made his top six. Penn State, West Virginia, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Cincinnati appear to be the competition.
Simmons hails from Cincinnati (OH) Withrow and stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds. According to the Composite, he is a four-star recruit and the nation’s 248th prospect. In the state of Ohio, Simmons is considered the 10th-ranked prospect.
Simmons is a very fast prospect and plenty of school would love to have his speed. As a sophomore, Simmons ran a 10.76 100-meter. For comparison, Gatlin Bair — the fastest prospect in 2024 — has a verified 10.15 100-meter dash. So Simmons isn’t too far off from Bair.
Michigan has plenty of gadget-type receivers, but if the Wolverines can add another with the speed of Simmons in the next cycle, it can only benefit the Michigan offense moving forward.
