Another day, another flurry of reports surrounding Jim Harbaugh’s coaching future.

The latest reports suggest that Michigan has now given Jim Harbaugh an offer to become the highest-paid coach in college football, per The Wolverine of On3.

Although there was a suggestion that Harbaugh was back in Ann Arbor today after meeting with the Chargers yesterday, the latest reporting suggests that Harbaugh is still in LA as of today.

The ongoing discussions with the Chargers have reportedly put what was supposed to be a scheduled second interview with the Atlanta Falcons on hold for now.

At this point, it feels like Michigan is willing to offer most, if not everything that Harbaugh is currently asking for – although protections against potential action from the NCAA seem to remain a sticking point.

That being said, it doesn’t feel like this is a situation that will remain unresolved for too much longer. The Chargers are obviously heavily invested in finding their next head coach, and it stands to reason that there would be some sense of urgency for Harbaugh to get a deal done one way or the other if he’s intent on making an NFL return.

Back in Ann Arbor, the waiting game continues.
