The Michigan basketball squad couldn’t get into a deeper hole if it tried at the moment. The Wolverines are sitting at 7-15 and Michigan is last in the Big Ten. The maize and blue have dropped six-straight games, and Michigan has lost lost 10 out of the last 11 games its played.

But what’s really concerning is how bad of a second half team Michigan has been this season under Juwan Howard. If you watch the games, and don’t look at many stats, you would think Michigan is a competitive first-half team, but then trips up in the second half. Usually, the Wolverines are either leading at the half or is trailing by just a few points.

If that’s you’re thinking then you’re correct.

According to IndianaHQ, Michigan is actually the fourth-best team in the Big Ten in the first half. Through Feb. 4, the Wolverines are +27 in the first 20 minutes. But then whatever happens at halftime, the Wolverines are by far and away the worst second-half team in the Big Ten. Michigan is -113 in the second half — wow. Michigan has a point diff. of -86 from the first half to the second.

Michigan basketball second half

To show an even bigger picture than just the Big Ten, Michigan win probability is the worst in the country when it comes to the second half. The Wolverines have a respectable +1.35 in the first half, but then Michigan goes to -5.35 in the second half — which means the Wolverines have lost 5.35 wins in the second half.

There’s not much to say about the Michigan Men’s Basketball program at the moment. The Wolverines don’t have much depth and they can’t seem to get out of their own way. Things appear to be spiraling out of control in Ann Arbor.

Michigan will take the court on Wednesday night against Wisconsin in Ann Arbor.
