It was inevitable that all of the turnover with the Michigan Football coaching staff would have an impact and the roster and recruiting, and today is the first example of that. Four-star signee Jaden Smith, who was part of Michigan’s 2024 class, officially announced on Sunday that he was asking to be released from his NLI (National Letter of Intent).

The 6-3, 201 pound athlete was expected to play linebacker at the University of Michigan, but his two primary recruiters – Chris Partridge and Jesse Minter – are now no longer part of the program. Smith is the first player from the 2024 class to ask for a release from his NLI following Harbaugh’s departure.
