It doesn’t happen very often, years and years in-between, but sometimes players will transfer to the arch-rival.
According to multiple reports, former Michigan football two-sport athlete Joey Velazquez is set to walk-on at Ohio State. Velazquez played linebacker for Michigan football and was a baseball player for the Wolverines, as well.
Velazquez is from Columbus, Ohio and became a walk-on at Michigan back in 2019. He played for the Wolverines through 2023 before announcing his intentions to transfer.
The former linebacker was a three-year letterman for Michigan and mainly played on special teams. He did not see any game action in 2023.
During his five-year stint in Ann Arbor, Velazquez appeared in 17 games and recorded seven tackles for Michigan.
This is just the second time a Michigan football player has transferred to Ohio State — post World War II era. The last one was offensive lineman Justin Boren back in 2009.
