Running back Blake Corum had a historic career at Michigan. He finished his four-year career as a two-time All-American, he is the single-season record holder for rushing touchdowns that he broke this past year with 27. Corum had 28 total touchdowns in 2023 which is also a single-season record, and he scored 168 points — another program record along with a Big Ten record in a single season.
It was well documented the great relationship Corum had with the former Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh. It’s thought around the NFL that Harbaugh would love to draft Corum on the LA Chargers during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Appearing on Up & Adams morning show with host Kay Adams on FanDuel TV, the former Michigan star was asked what would happen if Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers would draft him.
“That would be crazy — it would be crazy,” Corum told Adams. “Just because we’ve been through a lot in the last four years and we ended on a bang. If I picked up the phone and heard his voice on the other side just know we are going to go win a Super Bowl just like we won a natty.”
Corum is one of the best Michigan running backs to come out of Ann Arbor, if not the best. He finished as the seventh-ranked all-time leading rusher at Michigan with 3,737 yards in his four seasons. But he came away as the the program’s career record-holder in rushing touchdowns (58), total touchdowns (61), and career points scored (356).
Depending on which NFL expert you might listen to, Corum is projected to go anywhere between round two – round four of the draft. Running backs aren’t as valued — in the draft — as they once were. But Corum makes a strong argument to be the first running back off the board and if that would happen, you might hear his name during round two.
The Chargers do have selections in round two-through-four in the draft, so will Corum get selected by the Chargers and Harbaugh? It’s certainly a strong possibility.
