Michigan got some good news on Thursday after veteran forward Will Tschetter announced he would return for his junior season of basketball. But shortly after Tschetter announced he would return to Ann Arbor, senior Terrance Williams II announced he would declare for the 2024 NBA Draft — while maintaining NCAA eligibility.

That seems good, right? Maybe Williams would come back to Michigan as a graduate student and play one final season under new coach Dusty May, right? Well, as we later learned, Williams actually also entered the transfer portal to see what else could be out there for him.
According to Matt Zenitz with 247Sports, Williams entered the portal, as well as looking into the NBA Draft.
Williams played four years for Michigan and started 31 games this past season. The 2023 team captain averaged a career best during the ’23 campaign putting up 12.4 points per game. The former four-star prospect saw more and more minutes each year he was in Michigan and his role seemed to grow each season.
With May at the helm, there’s always a chance Williams could return to Michigan, but with so many players the Wolverines are looking into in the transfer portal — it would appear Williams time in Michigan is over.
Williams played in 114 games and had 58 starts in his four seasons with Michigan.
