Michigan football has added five players from the transfer portal headed into the 2024 season, but the Wolverines aren’t done looking to add more talent and fill the void of depth losses.

One player Michigan has coveted is D-II DT Jay’viar Suggs out of Grand Valley State. The GVSU defensive tackle has two years of eligibility remaining and has been offered by plenty of big-time programs in need of defensive line depth.

Suggs announced his final group which includes Michigan. The Wolverines will battle it out with USC, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Florida State, and Kentucky to land Suggs.

Suggs, a Flint (MI) native, is a big DT standing at 6-foot-3, 295-pounds. Suggs played two seasons with GVSU and during his two years, he tallied 42 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, and eight sacks.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Wolverines have the best shot at landing Suggs with a 23.8% chance.

The Wolverines do return the best defensive tackle unit in the country with Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, but Michigan always loves to rotate their guys. Rayshaun Benny is back and Enow Etta has been playing more tackle than Edge, but if Suggs would come to Michigan then that opens up room for Etta to play all over the line if the Wolverines would choose to do so.
