The Detroit Lions are bringing a former Wolverine back to the state of Michigan. Former Michigan tight end has signed with the Lions, according to Detroit’s Twitter (X) account. The Lions waived TE Isaac Rex to make room for McKeon.

McKeon signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a UDFA following the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with Dallas. He appeared in 45 games and made three starts, but saw most of his time on special teams. McKeon caught six passes for 38 yards and a TD with the Cowboys.

McKeon played for Michigan from 2016-19 and was a three-time All-Big Ten Honoree. He finished his Wolverines’ career catching 60 passes for 668 yards and six touchdowns.

McKeon will now battle to make the Lions’ 53-man roster. He will battle with Brock Wright, James Mitchell, Shane Zylstra, and and Parker Hesse for depth behind star tight end Sam LaPorta.
