Sherrone Moore stood in front of the podium on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan to give his introductory speech as the new head coach of the Michigan football program — in front of media, players, and the millions of people who tuned in via the Big Ten Network.

Moore shared some of his philosophies as the new head coach and what he wants to bring to the table. He made it known he is not Jim Harbaugh, and while Harbaugh taught Moore plenty about coaching, Moore wants to be just who he is when coaching at Michigan.

He said he already had a meeting with the Michigan football players and talked to them about what the future will look like under him. Moore is confident in retaining the Wolverines roster and coaching staff — outside of Jesse Minter who already announced he was leaving and possibly Jay Harbaugh.

Moore said that Michigan will start operating on three phases from here on out. It will be the process, the pursuit, and the standard at Michigan.

“I told this to the team this morning, we’re going to operate this thing from now on in three phases: The process, the pursuit, the standard,” said head coach Sherrone Moore. “We’ve already started the process, we continue to talk about the process over the prize. Process over the prize, and the prize we got. But we’re hungry for more. Now we’re in the pursuit. The pursuit of greatness. And to do that you’ve got to push, you gotta strain, you gotta do that every single day on and off the field to be great. And that will take you to the standard, and once we continue to win on and off the field, we will become the standard. That’s the goal here at the University of Michigan, and nothing less.”

Although Michigan just won a national championship, it came under Jim Harbaugh as the head coach of the program. With Moore beginning his tenure as the Wolverines’ head coach, he wants to cement his legacy and he told the media that he wants to “work as a GA (graduate assistant)” and to keep that mindset of continuing to get better and perfect the craft.

Moore will have a big offseason ahead of him in recruiting the current Michigan players to stay in Ann Arbor and to start looking into the high school landscape to bring in the talent he wants.
