Fans knew with Roman Wilson was asked to take on the coveted No. 1 jersey this past fall, he was in store for a special season. Wilson led the team with 789 receiving yards and while he didn’t get to 1,000 yards, he was still undoubtedly the top option for J.J. McCarthy. Wilson also finished tied for No. 9 in the nation with 12 receiving touchdowns.
Wilson dazzled this season with some spectacular catches. A couple that come to mind was one against Nebraska when he caught the ball and trapped it behind the defenders helmet. His touchdown — and it was a touchdown — catch against Ohio State was a thing of beauty as well.
It’s looking like Wilson’s draft stock is currently rising during Senior Bowl practice.
I was able to find four different videos from Tuesday’s practice and he sure is showing the nation why Michigan was so high on him.
In the first video, Wilson splits two defenders and uses his speed to get away and catch an easy touchdown pass.
In the second video, Wilson was seen running a one-on-one drill with a defender. He faked going to the left, stunned the defender, and went right for another easy touchdown grab.
The third video, Wilson doesn’t grab a touchdown, but he does make a nice catch from Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Wilson hauls in a ball where it appears like he was being doubled.
Lastly, Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman finds Wilson for the third touchdown of the day — that I’ve seen. Like the first video, Wilson splits a pair of defenders, uses his speed and flat out runs right past them to haul in the pass.
Depending on which mock drafts you look at, Wilson appears to be a mid-round pick. But if he continues to impress, you might see him go much, much higher.
