Now that Sherrone Moore is the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, one of the first things on the docket is to start recruiting. Moore has focused on keeping the current roster together now that Jim Harbaugh, Jesse Minter, and Ben Herbert has all departed, but Moore is also looking toward the 2025 recruiting class to start bringing in the guys he wants to have.
On Monday, Moore and the Wolverines offered 2025 five-star athlete Jonah Williams.
Williams hails from Galveston (TX) Ball High School and is as legit of a prospect as they come. He is 6-foot-3, 203-pounds. Williams projects to play either linebacker or safety at the college level.
According to the Composite rankings, he is the 14th-ranked prospect in the ’25 cycle and the No. 2 linebacker — 247Sports projects him as a linebacker.
Here is a scouting report on Williams, via On3.
Rangy linebacker prospect who is a menace in space. Has the long speed and fluidity to function in space as a zone or man defender in the passing game. Excellent frame and build for an inside linebacker. Measured in at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds during summer campus visits and has plenty of room to fill out. Tested well in explosive drills during camp settings. Impressive baseball prospect as well as a pitcher and outfielder. Sideline to sideline speed is easy for him, covers ground in a hurry. One of the more physically impressive recruits in the 2025 recruiting cycle. High upside prospect whose best football is ahead of him.
