As is often the case these days, it’s been a busy news day for the Michigan Football program. Here’s everything you need to know!

Spring Game Date Announced

Save the date! The Michigan Football program has officially announced that the annual Spring Game will take place on April 20 at the Big House. This event is typically free to the public and has recently involved NIL events that allow fans to meet with various players at some point during the day.

co-DC and DB Coach Steve Clinkscale Reportedly informs players he’s staying

Jim Harbaugh, as he has done with most of his staff from Ann Arbor, made a serious run at Steve Clinkscale to join him in Los Angeles as part of the chargers staff. According to 247Sports, Clinkscale recently informed U-M players that he intends to remain in Ann Arbor as part of Sherrone Moore’s staff – and will likely continue on in his same role as co-DC and Defensive Backs coach.

Michigan Formally Announces Two Newest Transfers

On the heels of National Signing Day, the Michigan Wolverines have now officially announced the two newest transfers into the program – offensive lineman Josh Priebe (from Northwestern) and linebacker Jaishawn Barham (from Maryland).

Both arrive to Michigan with extensive experience at their previous stops, and both figure to earn significant playing time in 2024 (if not starting roles).

Sherrone Moore may have round his new Defensive Coordinator

It appears that things are picking up steam with Wink Martindale, as he’s scheduled to interview for the defensive coordinator job at Michigan today. After it was reported that Joe Cullen of the Kanas City Chiefs was the favorite yesterday by some insiders, it looks like it’s Martindale who’s actually the favorite to land the job as of this moment. The latest reports suggest that the staff and the players are both on board with the potential hire.

Michigan offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell offers words of reassurance

Appearing on the “In The Trenches” podcast, Michigan OC Kirk Campbell had this to say about all of the changes happening with the football program right now.

“We play at the University of Michigan, the all-time winningest program in college football history. We’re defending national champs. We’ve got a loaded roster coming back with tons of talent all over the board. There’s no better place to be than here right now. Sit back, take a deep breath, let it all process and know that you’re in great hands. You’ve got great people leading you. You’ve got great leaders of men. It’s a great culture here. Enjoy the ride.”

Michigan AD Warde Manuel takes on new role with College Football Playoff committee

For those within the Michigan fan base who have been hoping that the University would part ways with the current athletic director, today’s news seems to suggest that is not going to happen anytime soon.

“The College Football Playoff (CFP) Management Committee has appointed University of Michigan Athletics Director Warde Manuel as selection committee chair for the 2024 football season, it was announced today by Bill Hancock, Executive Director of the CFP. Manuel replaces Boo Corrigan, the athletics director at NC State, who served as chair for the past two seasons.”
