Although nothing official has come from the Michigan Football program as of this writing, all reporting suggests that Wink Martindale has agreed to become the next defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan.
Martindale has spent the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator with the New York Giants, and was the defensive coordinator from 2018-22 for the Baltimore Ravens. Most importantly, Martindale’s defensive scheme is nearly identical to what Michigan has run over the last three seasons with former U-M defensive coordinators Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter.
Here’s a look at various videos of Martindale coaching up his players, describing his style, and other players explaining what it’s like to play in his system.
