Since the departure from Juwan Howard, Michigan basketball has now lost four players: three transfers and a de-commitment.

On Tuesday, center Tarris Reed Jr. entered the transfer portal. He now joins George Washington and Dug McDaniel as portal entrants. The Wolverines have also lost four-star 2024 forward Khani Rooths who de-committed from the program on Monday — but he will still consider Michigan during his recruitment.

Reed came to Michigan a season ago and backed up Hunter Dickinson during the 2022 season as a freshman. With Dickinson leaving Ann Arbor for Kansas, Reed had a full season as the starting center under Howard. As a sophomore, Reed averaged nine points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and shot 51.9% from the field this season.

The 6-foot-10 center came to Michigan as a highly ranked prospect. He was the 35th-ranked recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the Composite rankings.

The losses will likely continue to come in the Michigan basketball program. Until a new coach is hired, the roster will continue to dwindle before it gets better.
