According to Verbal Commits and other outlets, Michigan basketball reserve forward Youssef Khayat was the latest Wolverine to hit the transfer portal.

Khayat joined George Washington, Dug McDaniel, Tarris Reed, and 2024 recruit Khani Rooths to either enter the portal or de-commit from Michigan since the firing of head coach Juwan Howard.

Khayat joined the Michigan program before the 2022 basketball season and his commitment brought plenty of intrigue. ‘Yo-Yo’ came to the Wolverines from overseas in Lebanon. Khayat played for Lebanon’s senior national team when he was 18 and led the team in scoring.

But since his arrival in Ann Arbor, the 6-foot-8 forward really struggled to consistently see minutes on the floor under Howard. He started just one game which was against Vanderbilt in an NIT game in 2022.

Khayat played in 26 games over his two years in Michigan. He averaged 1.4 points, 1.1 rebounds, in 5.5 minutes per game during the 2023 basketball season.
