A bit of a shocking announcement came on Saturday afternoon when sophomore WR Karmello English announced he would be transferring from Michigan.
The Alabama native caught just one pass during his freshman season in Ann Arbor. He finishes his Wolverines’ career with one catch for four yards and a touchdown.
English came to Michigan as a four-star recruit in the ’23 class. The 5-foot-11 receiver is a shifty, gadget type playmaker that figured to play the slot in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines have a few other players that fit into the same role as English, so playing time may not of been in sight for the fast receiver.
Either way, it’s disappointing for Michigan fans. English had plenty of potential in the Michigan offense and could’ve made a name for himself in 2024. The Wolverines lose Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson — Michigan is looking to replace two starters.
The Michigan WR room is fairly thin right now. Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, Fred Moore, and Peyton O’Leary are the only scholarship WRs with game experience on the roster currently. Michigan also adds a couple of true freshman in I’Marion Walker and Channing Goodwin as well.
