Former Michigan football linebacker, Khaleke Hudson, had a special role when he played for the Wolverines from 2016-19. After Jabrill Peppers left for the NFL, former defensive coordinator Don Brown was left to find the next ‘VIPER’ in the Michigan defense. Brown chose Hudson for the role and the linebacker shined as the ‘VIPER’.
After having a very successful 2019 season where he accumulated 101 tackles, the Washington Commanders selected Hudson in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Hudson just completed his rookie contract with Washington, and now the former Wolverine is off to a new NFL team.
The New Orleans Saints announced they signed Hudson. According to some NFL reports, the Saints inked Hudson to a one-year deal.
Hudson was a big-time special teams contributor with Washington. In 2023, he played in 73% of special team snaps. But Hudson wasn’t just a special teams player, he excelled playing linebacker in Washington — especially last season. Hudson started eight games for the Commanders in 2023 and racked up 74 tackles. During his four years with Washington, Hudson played in 58 games and starting 12 of them.
Hudson will now head over to the Saints where he hopes to carve out a role in the linebacker room.
