New Michigan basketball coach Dusty May has been extremely active reaching out to transfer portal players and hitting the recruiting trail full steam ahead. While May has been doing his due diligence on a number of players, the Wolverines have yet to land anyone.
Michigan currently has just four players under scholarship for the 2024 season — that includes Nimari Burnett who has yet to officially say what his plans might be for next season.
May has plenty of scholarships to hand out, and it looks like the first domino could call Michigan’s way here relatively soon.
On Sunday afternoon, 247Sports’ recruiting analyst, Travis Branham, placed a Crystal Ball on FAU transfer Vlad Goldin to head to Michigan to play for former FAU coach, Dusty May.
Goldin, a 7-foot-1 center, is a graduate student who entered the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Goldin averaged 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds during the 2023 season for the Owls.
The Russia native began his college career with Texas Tech back in 2020-21 before transferring to FAU where he played the last three seasons. Goldin was a big part of FAU’s run to the Final Four during the 2022-23 campaign.
Goldin would make for a strong ‘5’ at Michigan. With his length and size, he would be an intimidating force down low on the defensive end of the court. He has good touch under the rim offensively and is a sound rebounder.
Michigan is also trying to land his teammates Alijah Martin and Johnell Davis.
