As soon as the Michigan football Spring Game ended, the basketball program received more good news.
Entering Saturday, new head coach Dusty May had two commitments towards his new look roster– both happening on Friday. 2024 four-star Justin Pippen and North Texas transfer Rubin Jones both announced they would be suiting up for the maize and blue next season.
The third commitment, as said before, came on Saturday when Yale transfer Danny Wolf announced he would also be coming to Ann Arbor for the ’24 season.
Wolf, a 7-foot center, finished his sophomore campaign with Yale. He will come to Michigan as a junior. Wolf helped lead Yale to the NCAA Tournament in 2023 after putting up 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, and shot 33% from 3 for Yale. He scored 13 points against Auburn in the Round of 64 during a huge upset win.
While Wolf stands at 7-foot, he is an intriguing prospect because he is more of a stretch ‘4’ player. Michigan can obviously play at the ‘5’ with how tall he is, but if May can land another big man — like FAU center Vlad Goldin — then Wolf could start at the ‘4’ for the Wolverines next season.
Wolf was the No. 19 prospect in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. He was considering schools like Duke, North Carolina, Cal, Georgetown, and others. Wolf has two season’s of eligibility left.
