Dusty May is currently on a heater as the Michigan basketball coach. May has been reeling in several commitments in the past few days, and on Tuesday morning, May landed yet another commitment for the 2024-25 basketball season.
Three-star combo guard Lorenzo Cason is the latest player to pledge to the Wolverines. Cason was a commitment to May over at FAU, but with May leaving the Owls for the Wolverines — Cason wanted to head on over to Ann Arbor as well. The 6-foot-3 guard is from Lakeland (FL) Victory Christian Academy.
Cason excels as a scorer, but he also does just about everything. During his senior year, Cason averaged 24.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game his final high school season. He also scored 57 points in a single game this past season.
With Cason in the fold, Michigan currently has just one open scholarship for next season. Here is how the roster currently looks:
G Tre Donaldson (Auburn transfer)
G Nimari Burnett
G Roddy Gayle (Ohio State transfer)
G George Washington III
G Jace Howard
G Rubin Jones (North Texas transfer)
G Durral Brooks (incoming freshman)
G Lorenzo Cason (incoming freshman)
G Justin Pippen (incoming freshman)
F Will Tschetter
F Sam Walters (Alabama transfer)
F Danny Wolf (Yale transfer)
With that being said, neither Howard nor Burnett have said one way or the other that they will be back in Michigan next season. But no news, currently means both are on the roster and will suit up for the Wolverines — as of now. Assuming both stay for the ’24 season, May only has one open scholarship for next season.
