The 2025 recruiting cycle has been a little slow for Michigan football, even after winning a national title. The Wolverines, now under Sherrone Moore, went through a face lift as a program. Jim Harbaugh left and so did much of the defensive staff, so high school players have been taking their time and doing some research of their own into the new Michigan coaching staff.

Moore finally capitalized recently by landing a four-star defensive lineman, Nathan Marshall. And now it’s looking likely Michigan might get good news once again after there were two Crystal Ball Predictions for the Wolverines to land the No. 2 running back in the state of Ohio.

Both Tom Loy and Allen Trieu predicted Michigan to land four-star Marquise Davis. Davis, from Cleveland Heights, is the 166th-ranked player in the ’25 class according to the Composite. He is the 11th-best running back in the class.

Michigan really started resonating with Davis after the Wolverines hired Tony Alford away from Ohio State. The former Buckeyes running backs coach has had a good relationship with Davis, and now it’s trending that Davis might come play for Alford and the Wolverines.

Here is a scouting report from Trieu over on 247Sports:

Two-way player in high school who has been very productive. Plays with physicality on both sides of the ball and runs with tenacity. Does not go down on first contact. Has a bit of twitch and wiggle to find his way through the wash but is more of a north-south runner than someone who will make lots of defenders miss. Has had a high yards per carry average and can get to the outside but has no verifiable speed times. Looks like a guy who is currently fast enough but isn’t a pure speed burner. Catches the ball well out of the backfield when asked to do that. Has gotten in the weight room and gotten stronger leading into his senior year and should be a feature back type in college who can handle being leaned on for a lot of carries and tough yardage.

Michigan landed 2024 Mr. Ohio running back Jordan Marshall in the past cycle and it’s not out of the question the Wolverines could do the same thing in 2025.
