Michigan football has had some success when it comes to special teams the past several years under Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverines have had some elite kickers come through Ann Arbor, most recently Jake Moody and James Turner. Moody is arguably the best kicker in Michigan history and was drafted by the 49ers a year ago. Turner spent just one season with Michigan, but he was pretty good himself and came through in difficult situations.

With Turner gone, Michigan looked to be transitioning to young kicker Adam Samaha. The lefty kicker had a rough outing during the Spring Game last Saturday. He nailed a 31-yard kick, but then missed a 30-yard attempt. The Wolverines are excited about him and his future with Michigan, but it appears the Wolverines are bringing in some competition.

On Friday evening it was announced Michigan landed Arkansas State transfer Dominic Zvada.

Zvada is entering his junior season and has two years of eligibility remaining. He came into Arkansas State his freshman year and started. He was 17-of-18 on field goals back in 2022. Last season, in 2023, Zvada was 41-of-41 on XP but declined slightly kicking field goals — he went 17-of-22.

Zvada was on the Lou Groza watch list.
