Although Michigan is relatively solid with it’s current starters, there’s no doubt that they could use some depth from the transfer portal at several key positions. One former Wolverine could potentially fill a need on both sides of the ball, as Amorion Walker is set to re-enter the transfer portal after committing to Ole Miss earlier this year.
The former three-star wideout spent two seasons with the Wolverines (2022-23), although he played sparingly in both seasons. After hauling in just one reception for four yards as a true freshman, Walker made the transition from wideout to defensive back as a sophomore. Although he was new to the position, he was making a lot of noise during the spring heading into the 2023 season. His speed, size, and raw athleticism had coaches and fans excited about his potential on the defensive side of the ball.
Ultimately, Walker never managed to work himself into the rotation during Michigan’s national championship run in 2023, and he opted to enter the portal shortly after the season came to an end. He committed to Ole Miss in early January, but now it sounds like Walker has had a change of heart – and there’s a realistic possibility that a return to Michigan is in the cards.
