Michigan basketball had just one open scholarship heading into Monday, but that also depends on what Nimari Burnett and Jace Howard decide to do — neither have said one way or another on if they will be back in Ann Arbor for next season.

If both come back, we now know who will fill that last spot on the roster. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Monday morning that FAU center Vlad Goldin was withdrawing from the NBA Draft, and will follow Dusty May to Michigan.

Goldin spent one season at Texas Tech before transferring to FAU where he spent the last three seasons. Goldin was a mainstay with the Owls with his low post offensive skills and his defensive tenacity. Last season, as a senior, Goldin averaged 15.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.

The 7-foot-1 center now gives Michigan a true center to slot into the starting lineup. The Wolverines previously had Yale transfer Danny Wolf commit to the program, who is also 7-foot, but he is more of a strech ‘4’ and will be a terrific pairing with Goldin.

We will continue to update when more news is available regarding the Michigan basketball program.
