It’s going to look a lot different to Michigan basketball fans when the Wolverines take the court later this year. The maize and blue are set to return just three players — including Jace Howard who hasn’t said what he’s doing for next season — from last year’s team. Players like Tarris Reed Jr., Dug McDaniel, and Terrance Williams II are all gone. We knew Reed Jr. was headed to UConn and McDaniel was headed to TCU, but Williams II future has been unknown.
After entering the transfer portal and looking into the NBA Draft process, Williams II announced on Tuesday he would stay in the Big Ten, but travel out west to play at USC.
Williams II is someone Michigan fans have known quite well. He’s played for the Wolverines for all four years of his basketball career and has played a ton of minutes. Williams II has played 115 games in the Michigan career and this past season, the last under Juwan Howard, he averaged over double digit points for the first time. In 2023, he put up 12.4 points per game and shot nearly 40% from 3.
Dusty May has filled out his Michigan roster nicely, but he does have one scholarship open to fill as of now.
