With the return of EA’s NCAA College Football this summer, fans from all across the country are eager to see what the latest installment looks like after 10-year hiatus. Although gameplay is certainly the most important aspect of what fans are looking forward to, there is also significant interest in which athlete(s) will receive the honor of being on the cover. The last college football player to receive the honor was Michigan QB Denard Robinson back in 2014, and there’s a pretty good chance the latest installment will also include a Wolverine – particularly after capturing a national championship in 2023.
Here’s a look at the five Wolverines who are the most likely candidates for the NCAA College Football 25 cover:
Will Johnson

Will Johnson feels like the most obvious choice here. The future first-round NFL Draft pick is arguably the top cornerback in all of college football, his turnover buff celebration has become a phenomenon among the Michigan fan base, and his choice to wear the No. 2 jersey brings back fond memories of another incredible cornerback who used to wear the winged helmet in Ann Arbor. He’s a first team All-American, a Big Ten champion, and won the defensive MVP following Michigan’s 2023 National Championship win.
Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant

Although each guy would be deserving of a cover spot on their own, it feels like Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant should be a package deal here. Both guys made big-time plays throughout the 2023 season en route to a third consecutive win over Ohio State, third consecutive Big Ten Championship, and a National Championship. They are the most dominant DL duo in the country, and the two Michigan monsters would make for an incredible cover for the return of NCAA College Football 25.
Donovan Edwards

When it comes to playmakers in Ann Arbor, few can compare to senior running back Donovan Edwards. The ‘Don’ has been responsible for some of the biggest (and most consequential runs) throughout his Michigan career, including a monster game in Columbus in 2022 – finishing the afternoon with 216 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries. He’s a constant homerun threat waiting to happen, and seeing Edwards leaving a whole host of Buckeyes in the dust would not only be accurate, but it would also be an incredible cover choice.
Colston Loveland

With quarterbacks and running backs getting most of the love from EA Sports when it comes to the cover art, we’ve yet to see a tight end receive the honor – and there’s no college tight end in the country that would be more deserving of the cover than Michigan’s Colston Loveland. The 6-5, 245-pound target is widely considered the best tight end in all of college football, and he routinely shows up when Michigan needs him most. In 2023, Loveland led the Wolverines through the air with five receptions for 88 yards against Ohio State. In the National Championship game, Loveland had a team-high 64 yards on 3 receptions. With JJ McCarthy now off to the NFL, and the wide receiver room looking a little thin at the moment, expect No. 18 to have a monster year for the Michigan Wolverines in 2024.
