After losing four wide receivers to the transfer portal this off-season, it was expected that head coach Sherrone Moore would look to supplement some of those losses via the transfer portal. On Wednesday, he did just that.

CJ Charleston, a 6-0, 190-pound graduate transfer out of Youngstown State, announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Wednesday. During the 2023 season, Charleston accounted for 504 yards and 4 touchdowns on 33 receptions.

He joins a solid group of receivers in Ann Arbor who are expected to take a big step forward in 2024, including Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, Fredrick Moore, amd Kendrick Bell.

The additon of Charleston makes four for Michigan since capturing the national championship back in January. All four of those additions – OL Josh Priebe, LB Jaishawm Barham, K Dominic Zvada, WR CJ Charleston – figure to play meaningful roles for Michigan this fall. Even with those additions, It’s a pretty safe bet that the Wolverines aren’t quite finished adding pieces from the portal just yet – particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
