The Michigan Wolverines are the current favorite to land 2025 four-star offensive lineman, Avery Gach. The 6-5, 290-pound prospect out of Franklin (MI) is set to announce his decision on Friday, and his final group includes four Big Ten programs – Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan.
Just 24 hours ahead of his announcement, 247Sports currently has eight predictions in for Gach – and they’re pointed toward Ann Arbor. The Michigan native is considered as the No. 2 overall 2025 prospect out of his home state, and the No. 13 interior offensive lineman nationally.
Interestingly enough, Allen Trieu – national recruiting analyst for 247Sports – compares the offensive lineman to former U-M fullback, Ben Bredeson.
Here’s Trieu’s full evaluation of Gach:
“High school offensive tackle who can be a swing guy at the next level. Tenacious, physical player who goes to the whistle and finishes plays. Shows functional strength and pad level in addition to the pure willingness to want to move defenders off the ball, all making for a dominant run blocker. Still technically coming along in pass set and pass pro. Physicality shows up in his punch there also. Left tackle in high school who may be more suited as a right side option or interior player at the high-major level. Has added good weight and strength and will continue to do so. Is a solid base-level athlete, but can also continue to improve on pure explosiveness and lateral agility. High-floor type prospect who will give a high-major school depth at several positions and should be a dependable multi-year starter at the Power Five level.”
Given Michigan’s long track record of developing offensive linemen and sending them to the league, Ann Arbor seems like the perfect fit for a guy like Gach.
The potential commitment by Gach will certainly come as welcome news for Michigan on the recruiting trail, as the Wolverines have struggled early on to capitalize on the success of a national championship winning season. Although it’s early, Michigan currently has just four commitments in its 2025 class and ranks No. 44 nationally. The lack of momentum has certainly raised some eyebrows among the fan base in Ann Arbor, but with seven months left until the early signing period, there’s still plenty of time for head coach Sherrone Moore to correct course.
