The Michigan basketball Twitter (X) account announced the Wolverines would travel south at the end of November to participate in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Michigan will play in the non-conference slate down in Florida from November 25-27. Michigan announced it would compete with South Carolina, Xavier, and Virginia Tech.
The Wolverines are coming off of one of the worst basketball years in program history. Michigan went just 8-24 in 2023. Juwan Howard was let go and Michigan went out and hired Dusty May to lead the program. May has an almost new roster for the 2024-25 basketball season and the rotation will look much different.
The Wolverines will by far and away be the least successful team heading to Florida, based on 2023 records. Michigan will be the only team that didn’t participate in a post-season tournament.
South Carolina went 26-8 in 2023 with a loss to Oregon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Tech had a 19-15 record last year and lost to Ohio State in the second round of the NIT Tournament. Xavier went 16-18 last season with a first-round exit to Georgia in the NIT Tournament.
