After adding Albany and FCS All-American defensive back, Aamir Hall, the Wolverines picked up Tennessee safety Wesley Walker.

And you can add yet another defensive back to the fold.

It doesn’t happen too often when a player on a rival school will then transfer to that said rival. But it has happened once again. Former Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham has committed to the Wolverines.

Mangham, who just finished his sophomore year, was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class from the state of Michigan. The 6-foot-2 safety was one of the bright spots on the Spartans’ defense. He had 53 tackles in 2023 and led the team with four interceptions.

With Rod Moore going down for the foreseeable future and with losses like Keon Sabb and DJ Waller Jr. to the transfer portal, it was evident Michigan needed to add depth to its secondary room. The Wolverines now have three players who could arguably start Day 1 for Michigan in 2024 in Hall, Walker, and Mangham.

Makari Paige and Quinten Johnson are the opening-day starters, presumingly. But Mangham and Walker could challenge Johnson by season’s end if Moore hasn’t gotten back to the field yet.
