Michigan football has had some really good linebackers going far back and even recently under Jim Harbaugh. Going into 2024, the Wolverines lost their top two LBs from the 2023 season in Junior Colson and Michael Barrett. But the duo of Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham should be one of the top linebacker units in the Big Ten.
In order to keep that room strong, the Wolverines will need to keep adding from a recruiting standpoint. One of the top linebackers in the 2025 cycle, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, has Michigan firmly in his mix and will take an official visit to the Wolverines. He announced he will visit Ann Arbor on June 21.
Owusu-Boateng plays his high school ball at IMG Academy, a place Michigan has recruited from extremely well — J.J. McCarthy and Greg Crippen. According to the Composite, he is the 69th-overall player in the ’25 cycle and the No. 9 linebacker.
There aren’t any predictions in for where Owusu-Boateng might land. But it appears it’s a fight between Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. He has already visited OSU and will take another visit on June 14. His brother is Owusu-Koramoah who played at Notre Dame, so there are ties with the Irish.
The Wolverines will need to make a strong impression on Owusu-Boateng when he takes his visit. But one thing is for sure, the Wolverines have been developing linebackers at a high level.
