Former Michigan football wide receiver, Nico Collins, is now the seventh-highest-paid WR in the NFL after agreeing to a three-year, $72.75 million extension. According to Adam Schefter. Collins will get $52 million guaranteed.

Collins erupted in year three with the Texans in 2023 with Ohio State rookie C.J. Stroud at QB. Even after missing a couple of games due to injury, Collins caught 80 passes for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns. He was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Even after trading for Bills’ star WR Stefon Diggs during the offseason, this extension shows that Collins is WR1 for the Texans moving forward.

Collins played three seasons with Michigan, 2017 being the first. He never quite became the WR that many thought he had the potential of being playing alongside Donovan Peoples-Jones. Collins was a part of that spectacular recruiting class that included Collins, Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black, and Oliver Martin.

Collins planned on returning to the Wolverines for his senior year in 2020 to become the clear No. 1 option on the team, but when the season was canceled initially due to COVID-19, Collins already entered the NFL Draft and wasn’t able to participate when the season briefly resumed.
