According to CBS Sports’ insider Jon Rothstein, Michigan basketball will be participating in the Jimmy V Classic held at Madison Square Garden. New head coach Dusty May will be squaring off with Arkansas and its new head coach, John Calipari.

Both Michigan and Arkansas will look entirely different from last year. Calipari took over an Arkansas program after Eric Musselman left to coach USC. When the former Kentucky legendary coach took over the Razorbacks there weren’t any players on the roster. Arkansas is currently at eight players and searching for more.

The Wolverines, on the other hand, have their roster just about complete. Michigan has one scholarship open and the Wolverines do return three players from their 2023-24 season in Nimari Burnett, Will Tschetter, and Jace Howard.

The tournament is held to honor the late Jimmy Valvano. Valvano, a former coach and broadcaster, had one of the greatest speeches during the ESPY in 1993.

An official date is also TBD, but the event is usually held at some point in early December. The other game that will take place will be between Miami and Tennessee.
