For the first time as the Michigan basketball head coach, Dusty May won his first major recruiting battle. May already won over former Wolverines Will Tschetter and George Washington III — who had thoughts of transferring before announcing the return to Michigan. But on Friday, May brought in a player for the 2024-25 season who hasn’t suited up in the maize and blue.

The son of Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, Justin Pippen announced his decison to play for Michigan next season. Pippen chose the Wolverines over Califonia, Florida, Stanford, and Texas A&m.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Pippen is a four-star prospect and the 101st-ranked player in the 2024 class. He is the 13th-ranked combo guard in the country. Pippen, a Chatsworth (CA) Sierra Canyon native, has good height for the point guard position standing at 6-foot-3. Pippen has the ability to shift over to the ‘2’ as well.

Pippen is naturally talented and has the ability to score at all three levels on the court. He appeared to have bloomed fairly late in the high school ranks and May really wanted to land Pippen in this class.

With the addition of Pippen, Michigan now has two recruits in the 2024 class. Point guard Durral Brooks is the other commitment. The Wolverines are still trying to secure a commitment from forward Khani Rooths — a former Wolverine commit.
