The Los Angeles Chargers drafted two Michigan football players during the 2024 NFL Draft: Junior Colson and Cornelius Johnson. After the draft concluded, the Chargers made another Wolverine signing in versatile offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart.

It appears as the Chargers’ rookie minicamp started, Jim Harbaugh has another Michigan player competing for a roster spot. Cornerback and special teams contributor German Green shared a photo of himself on Instagram wearing Chargers’ gear during minicamp.

Green played in Ann Arbor from 2019-23. The 6-foot-2 corner had 12 career tackles for the Wolverines and one pass breakup during his five seasons with Michigan football. He appeared in 42 games while playing 10 games on defense.

Green has plenty of experience with LA’s coaching staff. He played under Harbaugh all five seasons and played under both Jesse Minter and Steve Clinkscale in Ann Arbor as well. While Green was listed as a cornerback, he was a great special teams player with the Wolverines.

Green will attempt to crack the Chargers roster, but a practice squad signee could be very realistic for Green with Jim Harbaugh at the helm.
